Supirocin ointment is solely intended for external application. It should only be used on the afflicted region of the skin and administered in accordance with the dose and timing recommended by your doctor.

To get the most advantage from it, it should be used on a regular basis, ideally at the same time each day. Do not use it in larger quantities, use it more often, or leave it on for a longer period of time than recommended. This will just increase the likelihood of experiencing adverse effects. It should not be used for more than 10 days at a time.

Avoid getting any of the substances in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you inadvertently get the medication in these places, flush it out with water right away. Following application, mild side effects such as slight burning or irritation may be experienced locally. If these symptoms continue or if your health does not improve within 3-5 days, you should see your doctor. Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have ever had a reaction to it or any other medication in the past. Women who are pregnant or nursing should contact their doctor before taking this product.
