Albendazole is an internal antiparasitic from the group of benzimidazoles. It produces its effect on helminths by influencing the uptake of nutrients. In some parasites, it has also been seen to inhibit tubular protein synthesis. The antiparasitic spectrum of albendazole is very broad, allowing the effective treatment of verminous caused by helminths with different locations, being effective on adult forms, larvae and eggs of gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, cestodes (tapeworms) and liver flukes.
